The (Inner) City of Chemnitz

Mixture of Styles

The city centre of Chemnitz shows itself as a meeting point of the ages

If you are out and about in the Chemnitz city centre, you will encounter buildings from a wide variety of eras, ranging from historical to modern, around every corner. From the Gothic Art Nouveau of the Jakobikirche (Jacobi Church), the Altes Rathaus (Old Town Hall) in late Gothic style, the Siegert'sche Haus (Siegert's House) with its magnificent Baroque façade, the Roter Turm (Red Tower) as the city's oldest landmark, the socialist architecture of the town hall complex and the most modern glass architecture of Helumt Jahn with the Galeria Kaufhof.

Take a journey of discovery through the ages, stroll from restaurant to restaurant in the Inner Klosterstraße or drop in on one of the numerous events!
